Designed for portability, MAGCON is intended to be a portable stationery item which fits in your notepad like a glove. Not only does it work great as a straight and curved metallic ruler, it is also a compass and a protractor. With a MAGCON in hand, you will be well-equipped to draw perfect circles and patterns effortlessly.

MAGCON is a highly portable multi-functional stationery item with many more handy capabilities than a traditional compass. It doesn't poke holes through paper as it has no sharp point, and yet is still stable enough to not move around thanks to the specially designed rolling base.

MAGCON is an innovative pocket-sized drawing tool tailor-made for designers, artists, architects, journal enthusiasts, mandalas lovers, illustrators, tattoo artists,  students and creative professionals.

We are blessed to have invited many talented artists from around the world to try MAGCON on their artworks. From what we have heard, they are all beyond pleased with the results. These creative souls come from a wide span of places — including the USA, France, Canada, Russia, the Philippines, Spain, Norway, Croatia, Ireland, UK, Taiwan, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, New Zealand, Malaysia... etc.

Given MAGCON's unique additive design, new wings with exciting innovative features can be added in the future to suit a wide range of your needs.

The multi-functional wings are the cornerstone to the functionality of this product. You will have the flexibility to use whichever wing that meets your needs, whether to draw straight or curved lines, or angles. In this project, we are providing two wings for a variety of functions. Both wings are suitable for US letter / A4-sized paper sheets.

The first attachable wing is a reinvention of the traditional compass. It gives you the power to draw perfect circles, from radius 16mm to 80mm (holes are spaced at 4mm increments). It also doubles as a ruler, which enables you to draw straight lines, angles and beautiful arcs.

A longer version straight wing for drawing bigger circles, from radius 16mm to 140mm.

The second wing gives designers the flexibility to draw beautiful curves and angles. Curved lines, arcs, ellipses, hexagons, and circles can be drawn from radius 18mm to 77mm.

Designers can choose either, or both, of these wings for their creations. Most of them prefer a combo to support their limitless creativity.

MAGCON is also a protractor for high-precision arcs.

MAGCON can be conveniently slotted into a notebook, making it the perfect little bookmark, which is also capable of drawing guide lines and circles. You can use the back side of the wing and book edge to assist faster drawing.

MAGCON can hold pens of different sizes as long as the diameter is no bigger than 10.8mm. When placed on the desk, it can hold a pen as well as the wings.

The holes can accommodate various cartridges of pens, pencils and markers.

Here comes an interesting twist — did you know that MAGCON works wonderfully as a beer opener?

To open beer bottles, we recommend using the aerospace aluminium or stainless steel wings since they are much sturdier than the aluminium ones.

The central cylinder is made of stainless steel, while the two accompanying wings are made of aluminium with anodized finishing.

There are two other wing options for you to choose from if you want a more durable material, namely aerospace aluminium and stainless steel.

Need help choosing? Stainless steel is the strongest, most durable material out of the three options. Meanwhile, the aerospace aluminium package offers the best value of all.

Striving for the highest quality possible, we went through a meticulous, multi-stage prototyping phase.

At the beginning, we crafted the first batch of prototypes via 3D printing. Next, we used CNC machines to create the metal prototypes. After months of prototyping and testing (and many in-person trips to the manufacturing facilities), we gained enough confidence to pre-release some samples to talented artists in order to gauge user experience and feedback.

Both parts are CNC-machine made with high-precision measurements.  A laser created the marks on the ruler and protractor.
