Draw yourself a Wooden Square Mandala Ornament

A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. In fact, "mandala" is a Sanskrit word that means "circle". Mandalas generally have one identifiable centre point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms.

In order to draw a mandala ornament, all you need is Exlicon. Exlicon is an all-in-one tool for mandala lovers. Exlicon is able to be used on not only paper but wooden materials. If you do not know how it works, go through the simple steps below, you will find it a low-hanging fruit.

Firstly, mark the centre point by drawing two diagonal lines, then place the Exlicon circular disc which has a range of 10,12 and 14 degrees for all chamfered holes that are an excellent partner in making large complex grids at the centre you chose. You could point some guide dots by using this disc; these dots will be useful in the further steps.

Next, use the ellipse disc to draw the anther and filaments of your mandala. The ellipse disc has a range of 10 degrees for the outer line, it always helps you draw a golden spiral easily. Just set the disc at the place you preferred to create the anther and filaments. Since there are various curved hollows, you could use any of them to curve the filaments.

Before drawing the detailed petals of your mandala, it is better for you to draw some concentric guide circles. Just attach the short wing to the Exlicon base, then put it at the centre of the wooden board. Fit your pen nib in one of the holes on the wing and simply slide your pen and repeat to get the concentric circles.

You can also add more concentric circles with shorter radius through using the long wing. Pick two holes on the wing, the distance between them is the radius of the circle that you will draw. Put your two pen nibs at the holes, set one of them fixed at the centre. Next, slide the other pen to finish the circle.

After drawing all the guidelines, you can start drawing the petals. You can keep using the long wing to add more details. Water drop wing is another excellent part of the Exlicon which can help you create perfect curves for petals, even in golden ratio. You could put it anywhere and use the curved hollows to draw the curves, then turn over it to draw the symmetrical pattern.

Then, use the long wing and ellipse disc to expand the petals and make the mandala bloom more.

Besides the main mandala outlines that you created, you can still add more smaller mandalas via using the circular disc and the water drop wing. just like creating the major one for the purpose of making the board more colourful. Same as before, expand the mandala by applying the long wing.

The last step is of course colouring the mandala freely. Then you get your own wooden square mandala ornament, you can put it in your bedroom or sitting room, anywhere you want.

EXLICON is made of either aerospace aluminium or stainless steel. Both materials are strong and durable which allow you to use it for a long period of time. Aerospace aluminium is lighter in weight, which enables you to easily carry around. Stainless steel is a bit heavier, but much more durable. Stainless steel models can be used for an even longer period of time.

EXLICON is made by CNC machining, which ensures the accuracy of the markings. It is an all-in-one drawing tool which is perfect for beginners. It helps you a great deal to draw mandalas. Worry no more in drawing circles and curved lines! EXLICON is now on "Ddiin".
